24th & 25th September 2011

This event is in its second year and we would like more people to take part this year, so we’ve thrown open the doors to everyone and to all ages [please see below]. The Isle of Wight Skate 2 team would like to stress that this event is not a race but a collection of individuals who enjoy skating and raising money for charity. The event encompasses a clockwise route around the island’s costal roads; this beautiful route not only encompasses some of the most scenic parts of the island but also some of its more excellent skating roads. The team raised just shy of a thousand pounds last year and would love to smash that total this year!

The event starts on the Saturday morning but accommodation will be available on the Friday night , location to be confirmed.    The total distance is 67miles split over two days. This should allow those interested enough time to spend looking around the island, or to take the journey at a more leisurely pace!A BBQ dinner will be available both nights which is included in the entry fee, however both camp sites are close to pubs and restaurants should you wish to sample the local cuisine or beer!    Travel to and from the island has been subsidised very kindly by Red funnel, when booking the ferry use promotional code IWAA to take advantage of the 25% off offer.

During your time on the island if you get into any non-serious trouble there will be support vehicles to pick you up or help you out. We used this system last year and it proved very helpful as it meant that each skater doesn’t have to carry their tents etc. just the things required for the day

Full details are on this page.  You can sponsor the skaters here

I am looking at attending to take photo's of the day. With all profits from prints of any photo's of the day to be donated to the air ambulance. Was just wanting to know the route so I could try and be at a couple of spots across the island to get some action shots.
