Our helicopter is crewed by two pilots and ten paramedics. When the helicopter is flying there is one pilot on board, with either two paramedics, or one paramedic and one volunteer doctor, from BASICS. www.basics.org.uk

Dave Bronniman - Pilot.  Dave Bronniman joined the Army in 1983 and served with various units. In 1993 he attended and completed the Army Pilot’s Course. Dave saw service world-wide and left the Army in March 2007as a Qualified Helicopter Instructor. On leaving the Army, Dave flew Air-Ambulance’s UK wide and from January 2008 started as one of two permanent pilots flying the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance with Bond Air Services.

Stuart Mayor - Pilot  Stuart Mayor joined the Army in 1984 and served with various units initially as a Vehicle Mechanic in the R.E.M.E. In 1995 he attended and completed the Army Pilot’s Course. Stuart has flown in countries worldwide on various types of helicopters; he left the Army in October 2007 as a Qualified Helicopter Instructor. On leaving the Army, Stuart became the first permanent pilot flying the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance with Bond Air Services.

Pat Andrews - Paramedic

Chris Tate - Paramedic  Chris joined the Hampshire Ambulance Service in 1989 straight from college. He worked in the control room as a call taker and radio operator for 3 years. He then moved to Petersfield working on Patient transport for a year before he was selected for Technician training. 12 years at Portsmouth Station followed, during which he qualified as a Paramedic. In 2004 he moved to Winchester Station until he was successfull in his application for HEMS Aircrew in 2007.

Mike Gregory - Paramedic  Mike joined the Royal Berkshire Ambulance in January 1980, doing patients transport duties, out of Bracknell ambulance station. Then in 1982 he was recommended to take up the position of a Trainee Technician, and became qualified in 1983. In 1985 he was selected to undergo the first paramedic course in Berkshire and became qualified to practice locally in early 1986. In 1988 he joined a small medical company,  escorting patients from both international, and European countries, to and from the UK. In 1990 Mike had to undergo a national exam to be registered to practice in the UK. He also attended  other training courses, one with the fire service ,breathing apparatus, and attended the great Windsor castle fire. During that time he  spent 16 years offering his services on a voluntary basis, to the Royal Air Force benevolent fund, providing medical cover at the Royal International Air Tattoo. Mike transferred to the west country in 1997 to north Devon, before moving back and joining Hampshire, at Basingstoke, being promoted to clinical team leader in 2004. In May 2007 he was one of the first paramedic to be selected to work on the Hampshire & I.O.W air ambulance, and currently still working with the unit, he has just completed 30 years service with the ambulance service.

Paul Webber - Paramedic   Paul joined London Ambulance Service in February 1995 after leaving the Army, and trained as a Technician, working at Fulham & Chiswick Ambulance stations.  He came to Hampshire Ambulance Service, which is now SCAS, in 1999 and  completed his Paramedic course not long after. Paul has also completed an Emergency Care Practitioner course in conjunction with Basingstoke & North Hampshire Foundation Trust Hospital.  Paul has worked on the HIOWAA Helicopter since it's start in 2007 and rotates with Basingstoke Ambulance station every six weeks.

Tim Ross - Paramedic

Vicki Cladingboel - Paramedic.  Vicki has been in the ambulance service for 19 years, starting her career as a Control Room assistant with The Royal Berkshire ambulance service. She transferred to Hampshire in 1994 where she worked as a mobilising officer.  Soon after she was successfull in beginning her operational career. She mainly worked in the north of the county, her present station being Basingstoke where she has worked as an emergency care practitioner (ECP) for the past 5 years before joining the air ambulance last year.

Paul Rock - paramedic.  Paul immigrated in 2000 from South Africa. He joined the Emergency Services in 1995 and has been in it since. He has recently transferred from Berkshire to Hampshire to join the Air Ambulance team full time.

Kirsty Tallack - paramedic.  Kirsty joined Hampshire Ambulance service in 2001 as a trainee technician, qualifying as a paramedic in 2003.  Her career has predominantly focused on emergency response in an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle across the Portsmouth division. In 2008 Kirsty had an opportunity to work with our volunteer Community Responders and Co-Responders for six months which involved liaison and training - a brilliant experience! She joined the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance in 2010.

John Gamblin - paramedic.  John started his paramedic career in the Royal Navy before joining the London Ambulance Service where he worked for seven years. He moved to Hampshire in 2007 and in 2010 graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a BSc. (Hons) in Emergency Care whilst working at Southampton and Basingstoke stations. He joined the Air Ambulance in 2010.

  

Martyn Kingdon - Operations Manager.  Martyn left school and joined John Lewis Partnership, trained as a manager. He joined the Ambulance service in 1975 and qualified on the road at Southampton Ambulance Station. He transferred to the Hampshire Ambulance Control as a call taker, achieved the rank of Divisional Officer Control. He then transferred to Operations as a Divisional Officer and Hospital Liaison Officer. He was then appointed Radio Communications Manager. Since October 2009 he has been HEMS Support Office for HIOWAA
