Stand Holders, Exhibitors and Entertainers Wanted!

February 03, 2012

2012 is Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance’s 5th Birthday year – and we intend to celebrate in style!   On Saturday 30th June 2012 we are holding our 5th Birthday Summer Fair at Popham Airfield, Coxford Down, Winchester (just off the A303) and we are looking for people and businesses, large and small, to get involved with the event, in ways such as booking a stand, providing an act for the Arena, or as an entertainer.

Whether you sell cards, jams, paintings or vegetables or maybe you are a clown, a member of a dog agility team, a marching band, jugglers or magicians, we would love to hear from you.

If you would like at Stand or a Business Trade Stand, please contact Kirsty on Kirsty@hiow-airambulance.org.uk

If you would like to show an exhibit, have a display in the arena or are an entertainer please contact June on june@hiow-airambulance.org.uk

In addition, if you work for a company that may have something that you are willing to lend or donate that will help with the running of the event (bales of hay, picnic benches, marquees and gazebos etc) we would be very interested to speak to you. If you can donate something, or give us a very reasonable price please contact Rosemarie on rosemarie@hiow-airambulance.org.uk

If you can help us with any of the above please do get in touch.  As you can tell it is going to be a fun filled family event, with something for everyone. We hope to have the Air Ambulance present so you look around the aircraft and meet the crew . The Fair will be open from 10am to 4pm, entrance is free and there is plenty of free parking.  We hope to see you at the HIOWAA 5th Birthday Summer Fair.

Lasham Gliding Soc. Fun Run

February 01, 2012

The Lasham Gliding Society’s 2012 Fun Run on New Year’s Day was held this year in support of HIOWAA, and raised the marvellous amount of £1309.   The youngest participant was Harry Gray, pictured, who at just under two years old, not only managed to toddle some of the way but also raised £89 in sponsorship! Well done Harry.    Many thanks to all those who participated in the event and helped raise money for HIOWAA, this really is appreciated.

We had a marvellous view of the Air Ambulance as they undertook a fly-by on their way back from a mission, which was really appreciated by everyone on the ground!    Many thanks also to, everyone who generously sponsored me – yes, I did complete it – and especially to Marjorie Hobby, the organiser of the event, who did a fantastic job, and who is pictured handing me the proceeds from the event, at Lasham Airfield.

Announcing HIOWAA's 5th Birthday Year

January 31, 2012

2012 is an important year for the whole nation as it is Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, and of course the London 2012 Olympics.  But it is also a most notable year for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance as it is our 5th Birthday Year, having flown our first mission on 1st July 2007.  We will be hosting and attending a great many events throughout the year, some of which we will run ourselves, and some which are run for us by wonderful friends and volunteers, in the hope that as many as possible of our supporters will be able to take part in the celebrations of this important milestone in the history of the charity and the Air Ambulance.

We have created a new logo especially for the Fifth Birthday Year, which you can see at the top of this blog, and this will appear on all the event publications, literature and publicity.  All events on our website which carry this logo will be specifically in support of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.  A full list of all the events is on the events page, just click the Events button at the top of the home page. There will be one in your area and I look forward to meeting many of you during the summer and sharing this exciting year with you all.

An important date for your diary is our 5th Birthday Party Summer Fair at Popham Airfield, on Sat 30th June.  This will be an exciting event with attractions for all the family including vintage vehicles, ambulances, fire engines, country crafts and activities, arena events, and of course the Air Ambulance will be present.   Entry is free and there is plenty of free parking.

If you would like to hold a fundraising event for HIOWAA, or you have one planned already and would like to use it to support the Air Ambulance during our 5th Birthday Year, please contact our Head Office on 02380 333377 and we will send out literature and the 5th Birthday Logo for you to use.

Lambing Festival at Sparsholt

January 30, 2012

The countryside year kicked off at Sparsholt College over the last weekend of January with their annual Lambing Festival.  Over the two days an estimated 8,000 people ‘flocked’ to the event.    The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance stand was very well supported and it was such a pleasure to meet with many of our supporters, old and new,  who braved the extremely cold weather to visit the event.

This is becoming an ever increasingly popular start to the county show season and we would like to take this opportunity of thanking Graham, Helen and all of the Sparsholt Agricultural College team for making us feel so welcome.

LORDSHILL ROAD RUNNERS

January 26, 2012

Sunday 22nd January at Southampton Sports Centre saw the first event of the 2012 season for the Lordshill Road Runners Running Club from Southampton.

Just prior to the 5km run the club made a further generous donation to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. This comes on top of an earlier donation in May of 2011 and follows an incident in the New Forest in early 2011 when we were able to offer assistance to one of the club members.

A huge thank you to all the members of the Lordshill Road Runners Running Club for the very generous donation.

It's Bag a Bra Season Again!

January 26, 2012

It’s Bag-A-Bra Season, and it’s already got off to a great start as we’ve just received a bag of bras sent from Australia! Many thanks to the Lutheran Community Church in Canberra, your ‘support’ is greatly appreciated.

16 bras have also been donated by our Charity Manager, Sherie, so everyone else in the office will now have to turn out their drawers!

Pampered Passions in the USA are also collecting bras for us.

If you would like a pink bra collecting bag sent out to you, so that you can ask family and friends to donate their unwanted bras, then please contact the office on 02380 333377 or email me at june@hiow-airambulance.org.uk. Thank you.

As this is our 5th Birthday Year, why not ask five friends to donate five bras each? Or if you work for a company, why not see if you can fill five bags?    Your ‘support’ as always, is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

June
